Hello,
This section is for you. I would love to hear your thoughts about my work.
Hello,
I have been painting house portraits for over 15 years, and every time I deliver a painting the joy is overwhelming. It is such an enjoyable experience. I just love how my paintings often become part of a family’s story and I feel so honored that they can not only decorate family’s home, but provide a heritage that will be enjoyed for years to come.
A home portrait is a lasting memory of a family’s history. It is a wonderful way to commemorate an anniversary or a birthday or to say good bye to a home of many years.
My medium is oil. It allows me to freely express the mood and atmosphere of each home.

About me
I exude a passion for painting; for me, every house portrait is a wonderful experience. My philosophy is to give the very best to all my projects. I create each portrait with pleasure and in anticipation of the joy it will give and the knowledge that many portraits are destined to become family heirlooms.
If as a child I dreamed of being an architect, it was while painting that I realised that my destiny was to express my love for homes in an entirely different medium.
With over 120 works hanging in homes around the world my portraits are now recognised for their elegance and style.
Growing up in Jamaica I was surrounded by some of the loveliest properties in the Caribbean. Inspired by the light and gardens of my beautiful island I began studying art in the United States with the idea of evolving into architecture studies.
An art-school assignment found me painting a portrait of a house I had known while visiting the south of France. My Professor, the late Dr. Almeda Frognott insisted that I give up all idea of designing homes and concentrate on my obvious talent as an artist. Accepting his advice I continued my studies with a Master’s in Art History which was a perfect complement to my love of painting.
My career as a painter began with an exciting change of continent. My husband, Nicolas Swaton, whom I met in the United States, was to return to his family’s business in the French capital.
Paris, the famous City of Light, became the canvas for my portraits of stylish residences. My new home in the celebrated suburb of Neuilly, also home to the French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, provided me with my first commissions.
Sharing now my time between Paris and the South of France for the last 12 years but with regular visits to Jamaica and the U.S. allow me to keep a fresh approach to each commission.
My homes in the Caribbean and in the Mediterranean provide the opportunity to indulge my passions for evening swims at the beach and enjoying dusk; My favourite time of the day.
I love the sounds of silence found as day fades, colours mute and peace reigns. I have a strong dislike for aggression, selfishness and surprisingly: vibrant colours and strong sunlight!
Every spirit makes its house, and we can give a shrewd guess from the house to the inhabitant – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Aimée’s style evokes freshness and femininity which captures the soul of the striking homes she paints. The elegance these paintings exude comes from the inspiration she finds in the textures and authenticity of the materials whether high-tech or with the patina of centuries of history. She captures the atmosphere with a magical and confident style to produce an air of timelessness.
Her work has been compared to the naive, fairytale illustrations of the French artist Henri Rousseau. Many works recall the ambiance of pictures from children’s storybooks. In over 120 commissions from around the world Aimée expresses different atmospheres, light and character in each portrait. Architectural follies, French chateaux, Provencal Mas, and designer dreams have been captured in oil and canvas by this artist who has her permanent residence in the South of France.
Since arriving in France in the mid 1990’s Aimée’s commissions are created either working from life, sitting in some of Europe’s most beautiful gardens, or working from photographs sent from around the world. These confidently refined portraits capture the soul of the building through the eye of an artist whose joy is to encapsulate the character of the house with no hint of a photographic image.
